HOUSTON, TEXAS-April 29, 2011 − The National Alliance of Buy Here, Pay Here Dealers
(NABD) today announced additional details of three important sessions, to be held at their National
BHPH Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 18-20, 2011 which will focus on “Improving the
Image of the BHPH Industry”.
Ken Shilson, President and Founder of NABD, indicated that Experian has just completed a
demographics study of the BHPH industry which they will present on Wednesday May 18, 2011 at
the Conference. Melinda Zabritski, Director of Automotive Credit at Experian, will discuss the size
of the BHPH marketplace, the number of dealers and the largest states for BHPH financing, along
with other demographic information. “Our special thanks to Experian who will provide this longawaited
information about BHPH and the auto finance industry. These demographics have never
been developed before, and represent a significant undertaking by Experian. It finally gives the
BHPH industry an automotive identity,” Shilson stated.
In addition, AutoTrader.com has just concluded an extensive research study on BHPH
consumers and internet and advertising practices. Howard Polirer, AutoTrader.com’s Director of
Industry Relations, will share important insights and discuss the results of this study on Wednesday
at the Conference. “NABD assisted Autotrader.com by encouraging its members to participate in
this important study. The results will be very beneficial to all attendees and to our industry,” Shilson
indicated.
NABD also announced that it has recently completed a national study on the use of payment
devices which includes more than 150,000 units by operators in 30 different states. The study
provides new insights into the use of these devices within the industry and will lead to the
development of an NABD white paper on best practices. A special session on Thursday will be held
during the Conference to discuss the responses and results of this study.
Shilson explained that the National Conference features more than 75 speakers this year and
includes 10 workshops on Friday morning covering important operating and financial aspects of
BHPH. These sessions are interactive so attendees can get answers to their questions and learn ways
to improve their profits and cash flow. In addition, there will be sessions on the legal and regulatory
challenges associated with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Shilson indicated that “the exhibit hall is ‘sold out’ and will be the largest in BHPH history!”
The Conference begins at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18 at the fabulous Venetian/Palazzo in Las
Vegas and discounted rooms are still available while supplies last. A detailed agenda is available at
www.bhphinfo.com.
NABD also announced that its fourth Dealer Academy on May 16-17 at the Venetian is “sold
out”. “It is for anyone who seriously wants to run a BHPH operation successfully today!” Shilson
said.
Registration for both events can be done online at www.bhphinfo.com or by calling 713-290-
8171. Space and room availability is limited.
NABD is the only used car special interest group exclusively for the self-finance industry.
Membership is open to anyone in the BHPH industry and to service providers. Members pay no
dues.
